Jenn D. Young is a native of Washington, currently living in Arizona. She has always dreamed of writing about the characters that have been floating around in her head. Ever since the age of 14, she has been obsessed with romance novels and reading them as fast as she can get her hands on them. Her first love is Paranormal Romance, but she enjoys stories from all across the genre. You can typically find her listening to music or an audiobook, reading, or hanging out with her dogs Hermes and Loki.
Where are you from?
“Currently reside just outside of Phoenix, Arizona, but I spent the majority of my life just south of Seattle in Washington.”
When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?
“Since I was old enough to write, I was always jotting down random ideas or coming up with crazy stories from my overactive imagination. Being an author was always something that I wanted to do!”
What is your favorite genre to read/write?
“Paranormal Romance! It was one of my first reading loves and I adore writing characters with fantastic abilities. Demons, Angels, Vampires, Shifters, you name it, I love it!”
What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?
“Sherrilyn Kenyon has been a huge influence on me for a great number of years!”
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
“Between a couple of short stories for anthologies and regular books, I’m up to 12!”
Who/What inspired the Unyielding Fates Trilogy?
“The covers actually! I had gotten them as premades and the idea of a half demon, half angel emerged and took root in my head. From there, I built a playlist and the characters developed and rolled out of me!”
Is there any new release we can expect in 2021 or in the future?
“I have one release on March 1st and I’m planning out the rest of the year from there. I have a trilogy of interconnected standalone reverse harem books I’m working on that will involve snow leopard shifters in a small town in Montana! Plus I’m working on the last book in the Unyielding Fates series and bringing a close to Lana’s story.”
Describe your perfect book hero or heroine.
“Someone who is not perfect. Damaged, yet strong. Believable and relatable. I try to inject that into each of the characters that I write because no one is perfect. We all have underlying issues that we are trying to get through and I love that.”
What do you think makes a great story?
“Plot, depth of characters, emotion, and escapability. I use reading as an escape. I love to be taken away from my life and feel what the characters are feeling.”
What advice can you give to an unpublished author?
“Find your tribe. Find those people that will support you. Covers matter. Editing matters. Don’t be afraid to fall and don’t always compare yourself to others.”
