Dr. Rebecca Sharp, while using a pen name, is actually a doctor living in Pennsylvania with her husband – the love of her life.
She enjoys working in her practice with her father as well as letting her creativity run free as an author. Growing up she’s always loved a good love story and finally decided to give writing one of her own a go.
After graduating with her doctoral degree, she now enjoys spending that thing called free time traveling with her husband, cooking, and knitting.
Where are you from?
“I’m born and raised in northeast Pennsylvania! I lived for a few years in Maryland, but now am back in PA with my husband.”
Favorite genre to write or read?
“I think I could only write romance, or a romance sub-genre. But for reading, I love a wide variety of books from romance to biographies. My favorite genre though would have to be historical romance.”
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
“Once I finished dental school and began working, I realized I needed a creative outlet. I began writing Jane Austen fan-fiction and from there it just spiraled.”
Who/What inspired you to write the Carmel Cove Series?
“I wanted to write a small-town series. The idea for the setting came to me when I was vacationing in Carmel-by-the-Sea in California. Carmel Cove is a blend of that locale with many qualities of my Italian-immigrant hometown in PA. All of the characters are imagined except for Larry, who was inspired wholly by my grandfather who committed suicide in 2008. The strong family ties and sense of community is really a big dedication to him and the kind of man he was. So, I guess if credit goes to a person for this series, it’s him.”
Will there only be 5 books in the series?
“Good question 😉 As of right now, yes. But, I’m planning a spin-off series for a certain set of brothers, and the people they work with.”
How many books have your written? Which is your favorite?
“Oh man. I think I’ve lost count. I think I’m up to 32, but some of them are only written and not published yet. My favorite, hands-down, is The Fall of Troy. I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers/forbidden romance.”
When did you write your first book and was it also published?
“I wrote my first book originally as fan fiction in 2016 and then published it later that same year.”
What do you think makes a great story?
“Drama and tension. The struggle that the main characters have to go through is so important, not just to bring them together, but to give them greater insight into themselves.”
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
“In Kindergarten, I told everyone I wanted to be a Princess. From there, I shifted to fashion designer and then, after much soul searching, finally decided on becoming a dentist.”
Any other upcoming releases, besides the Carmel Cove Series?
“Yes! I’ve got a steamy, best-friend’s father romance, Hypothetically, coming out this month, and then a sexy, holiday rom-com, I’ll Be Your Santa Tonight, coming in the beginning of December that is super funny, super hot, and has all the holiday feels! And then, in January, we head back to Carmel Cove for Besotted.”
